For anyone who is reading this, the list might not come off as a surprise since anyone who is interested in gaining knowledge about the fastest wheels ever made for the road must be knowing which car has made it to the list. Nonetheless, for those enthusiasts who want to remain updated with any new inventions that might have perhaps happened behind their back, here is the list of the world’s top 5 fastest cars that have been made up till now and are also street legal.
1. Bugatti Veyron
Manufactured by none other than Volkswagen, this neat looking sports car takes the top spot. The Bugatti Veyron can go to a top speed of almost 270 mph which equals to 434kph. It has a monstrous 16 cylinder engine with 1200 horsepower. Not only is this machine one of the top fastest car in the world that is road-legal, it is also the most expensive one costing about 1.6 million British pounds. To keep such a powerful car on the road when in top speed, you got to have tyres that will do the car justice; therefore this little baby has been fitted with $25,000 worth of tyres. Not very fuel-friendly but then whoever is in the mood for buying the Bugatti isn’t looking to save on fuel budget.
2. Barabus TKR

Reaching almost the same top speed as the Bugatti, the Barabus TKR by Barabus Sportscars Ltd takes the second spot in this list of top fastest cars. However, unlike the Bugatti, it has a decently small engine; the Barabus has a smaller V-8 twin turbocharged engine with almost 1005 horsepower. The Barabus is still a newer addition to the fastest cars, therefore might not be very well known. In a mere 1.67 seconds, this beautiful sports car can do a 0 to 60 mph jump.
3. Hennessy Venom GT
Many people might not have heard of the Hennessy Venom GT, but this shiny little beauty is sure to do a 260 mph or 420 kph top speed with a 6.2 liter, twin turbo V8 engine. The reason for its not so famous existence is that there has only been a handful of these sold till now.
4. SSC Ultimate Aero
The American SSC Aero’s later version – the SSC Ulitmate Aero TT takes the fourth spot, scoring a top speed of almost 257 mph or 413 kph. The speed test during which this top speed was recorded has also made its name to enter in the Guinness Book World Records back in 2007. Not only is it the top fastest car in the world, it is also a very beautiful looking car with classy scissor doors. Another thing that really makes this special car stand out is its decent price (of course that is only when we are comparing it with other fastest cars of the world.)
5. Koenigsegg CCX
With a 806 hp engine, Koenigsegg CCX can reach a top speed of 251 mph or 403 kmh making it a good contender in the world’s fastest cars. This brilliantly looking smooth Swedish car reaches up to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. It has a 4.7 liter, V8 engine. The Koenigsegg CCX has been developed from the CCR; it is a two-door and has a targa removable roof. In the case of this car, the roof can be conveniently stored away beneath the front trunk.
