The Dodge Durango is a full size SUV that is known for its precision, class leading features and impressive solid performance over the years. The 2014 version of the Dodge Durango is refreshed slightly whereas the starting price is kept almost same for the previous year to deliver a high end vehicle with more fun and advancement at a same price. The seven passenger full size 2014 Dodge Durango is offered in five trims: the base SXT, Rallye, R/T, Limited (new for 2014) and Citadel. The 2014 models are upgraded to all wheel drive and all the Durango are paired with a ZF eight speed automatic transmission.
As the Dodge Durango is fully redesigned for the 2014 so the exterior of the vehicle is more refined and appealing. The front end is complemented with a new floating crosshair grille, a raised front bumper, new projector beam headlights and LED daytime running lights. The rear end gets new taillights named as racetrack taillights with the LED ring running through the width of the Durango. A more sculpted hood with pronounced fenders is also added with which the dodge looks muscular and distinctive. Each trim gets a distinctive mesh color for the front grille while some of them have a body colored grille for further style and distinction. The 18 inch wheels are standard whereas the Rallye models get 20 inch monochrome treatment wheels names as Hyper Black. There are a few minor changes made to the exterior of each Durango model just to help the customers to recognize them easily.
The interior of the 2014 Dodge Durango is also updated to deliver a class leading interior with lots of comfort, convenience and entertainment features. The Durango 2014 is has a new three spoke steering wheel with standard shift paddles, revamped center control panel with a UConnect Multimedia system with a 5 inch or 8.4 inch touch screen depending on the trim. The UConnect Access System features navigation with 3-D mapping, hands free texting, mobile apps including Pandora, iHeartRadio, Wi-Fi capability and Bluetooth audio streaming. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 7 inch LCD screen, dual screen Blu-Ray and DVD compatible rear seat entertainment system. The interior is quite roomy about which Dodge claimed that when the second row and 50/50 rear seat are folded the car can accommodate a coffee table and a six foot couch.
Under the Hood
Two Powertrains are offered to the lineup of Durango 2014, a 5.7 liter V8 is standard on all trims produces 360 horsepower and 390 lb ft of torque except the Citadel that get power from a 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 produces 290 horsepower and 260 lb ft of torque. For both powertrains an eight speed automatic transmission is the only transmission. A new Eco mode is added that will increase the fuel efficiency as well as the new transmission will also boost up the fuel efficiency up to 9 percent.
Standard safety features are seven airbags, and lots of other standard and optional features that are yet to be disclosed.
Pricing and Availability
The starting price for the base 2014 Dodge Durango is $30,000 and will go on sale fall 2013.
